Veneers
Brand New Set Of Teeth
If you have ever wished that you could have a brand new set of teeth, without actually having to get rid of your existing teeth, then porcelain veneers may be just the solution.
As the name implies, porcelain veneers are thin, nearly translucent sleeves that are applied to the front surface of the tooth to cover discoloration or subtly enhance the shape or contour of the teeth. First, a thin layer (usually less than a millimeter) of the natural tooth enamel is removed, so the veneer has a place to fit. A resin is placed on the natural tooth, which adheres to the veneer. The veneer is then cured by a special light that bonds the two surfaces.
What to Expect
The process of being fitted with porcelain veneers is not immediate. First, Dr. Staten will create a mold of your teeth, and send that off to a dental lab to create a set of veneers that will fit precisely onto each of your teeth. After the veneers arrive, patients come in to the office for a fitting to make sure the veneers are the proper size. Finally, patients come in to have the veneers applied.
Once your veneers are in place, you can be confident that your new teeth are extremely strong and stain-resist, and will serve you well for many years.
Porcelain veneers are not for everyone. They provide the most realistic-looking, longest-lasting results for changing the exterior of your teeth, but are a cost-intensive cosmetic option. If you are looking for a more economical approach, you might wish to consider bonding and contouring. Dr. Staten will be happy to help you decide which option will be best for you.
