What this means if you’re choosing a dentist in Las Vegas
More offices means more choice. The counts say nothing about which office suits you, so a few questions help.
- Ask which treatments are done in the office and which are referred to a specialist.
- Find out how the office works with patients who have no dental insurance.
- Check how soon you can book a first visit, and how the office handles a dental emergency.
How we got these numbers
We downloaded the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns county files for each year from 2018 to 2023 and read the rows for Clark County (FIPS 32003) and Washoe County (FIPS 32031), Nevada. We used the employer establishment count (est) for NAICS 621210 Offices of Dentists, which covers general and specialist dental practices. The fewer-than-five-employees figures come from the file’s n<5 column.
Dental offices ÷ all employer establishments in the county × 1,000
For example, Clark County in 2023: 964 ÷ 54,202 × 1,000 = 17.79. Percentage changes compare 2018 with 2023 and are rounded to one decimal place.
The 2023 County Business Patterns release is the latest the Census Bureau’s dataset directory listed when we checked on October 10, 2026. These are 2023 counts, not 2026 counts.
What this study does not measure
- Dentists. These are counts of offices, not of dentists. One office can have several dentists.
- Companies. An establishment is one business location. A practice with two locations counts twice.
- Patients. Offices are counted where they are located, not where their patients live.
- Quality, prices or wait times. These are counts of business locations only.
